It was 1987. FAUG (First Amiga Users' Group) had just turned two years old. This needed to be commemorated!
Allen Hastings was working on VideoScape 2.0, which had a bunch of cool new features, one of which was "brightening" and "dimming" polygons. These were polygons that had no color of their own, but brightened or darkened all the pixels they covered on the screen. This was a nice cheap way to get spotlight- and shadow-like effects.
Being a VideoScape enthusiast (how can you tell?), I managed to get a Beta copy of the program, and used it to create this animation. Took no time at all.
There's only one moving object in the scene. But even so, I still enjoy staring at it.
